Water flow on tap has been reduced.
Cause: Water flow on tap has been reduced. The filters accumulate dirt causing a reduction of the water flow capacity.
Lack of pressure in the installation.
Verification: With a manometer, check that the pressure intakes are between 1-5 bar (recommended pressure: 3 bar).
Action: Cleaning the joint 3/4”with filter located at the water inlets (if needed, its replacement is Ref.JCF).
Extracting the thermostatic cartridge and cleaning the filters with abundant water.
Temperature is not regulated; temperature goes from cold to hot without intermediate temperatures.
Cause: Hot and cold water inlets are inverted.
Solution: Verifying during the installation that hot water goes in through the left of the thermostatic. If it is not the case, the installer should be demanded to adjust the installation.
Verifying that the thermostatic has not been assembled inside out (the hot water intake is marked or the right position of the tap can be checked in the catalogue)
The temperature range has been reduced.
Cause: The filters accumulate dirt causing a reduction of the water flow capacity.
Action: Cleaning the joint 3/4”with filter located at the water inlets (if needed, its replacement is Ref. JCF).
Cleaning thermostatic cartridge, plunging it in vinegar for 24 hours and rinsing it with abundant water right after.
If it still can’t be recovered, thermostatic cartridge must be changed for a new one.
Cause: Service conditions have been modified (pressures and/or supplying temperature).
Action: Readjusting comfort temperature according to cartridge regulation instructions.
Does not regulate. Water ALWAYS comes out at the same temperature, even when moving the temperature handle to the extremes of cold and hot water.
Cause: The thermostatic cartridge has stopped regulating because the internal piston that tilts the water flow has seized up due to disuse, impurities or lime accumulation.
Dirt in the filters has reduced the water flow capacity and does not allow the water mix.
Maximum temperature of mixed water comes out lukewarm but not hot (<38ºC). If temperature handle is turned to cold water, the water comes completely cold (15ºC).
Cause: Cold water dominates hot water and does not allow enough hot water in the tap for its proper temperature adjustment.
Pressure at water inlets has to be compensated. The thermostatic cartridge accepts a maximum of 1 bar pressure difference between both intakes.
Verification:
In order to verify in a simple manner if there is a difference of pressures in the intakes, another tap can be opened at its maximum water flow and in cold position (if possible, within the same room) to check at the same time if the hot water temperature of the thermostatic tap increases.
Action: Installing reducer or pump pressure for both water intakes to be regulated up to a 3 bar pressure.
Verifying that there is no anomaly in the ACS installation zone where the pressure drop takes place (for example: heating coil on the boiler is plugged, reduced pipe section due to squashing, deficient welding or there are remnants of shells from the construction…). If it is the case, it must be repaired.
Attenuation of the problem:
These simple actions, without modifying the installation, can improve the efficiency of the thermostatic:
- Slightly closing the cold water stopcock in the room where the tap is being installed.
- Decreasing the hot water temperature in the boiler. This way, the thermostatic will demand a larger quantity of hot water and the thermostatic cartridge will jam the cold water flow.
Mixed water temperature comes out hot from the sprayer but cold from the shower handle.
Cause: Cold water dominates hot water and does not allow enough hot water in the tap for its proper temperature adjustment.
Pressure at water inlets has to be compensated. The thermostatic cartridge accepts a maximum of 1 bar pressure difference between both intakes.
Since the water demand of the sprayer doubles that of the shower handle, the tap must supply more water and allow a larger hot water inlet.

- Decreasing the hot water temperature in the boiler. This way, the thermostatic will demand a larger quantity of hot water and the thermostatic cartridge will jam the cold water flow.
Cause: The boiler trigger (membrane) is regulated for a superior water demand than the water flow required by the shower handle and the trigger goes off intermittently.
Action: Adjusting the boiler trigger to be activated with less water demand.
Attenuation of the problem:
Decreasing the hot water temperature in the boiler. This way, the thermostatic will demand a larger quantity of hot water and the thermostatic cartridge will jam the cold water flow.
Mixed water temperature comes out hot from the shower handle but cold from the sprayer.
Cause: If when changing from the shower handle to the sprayer temperature decreases, it can be due to a power insufficiency at the boiler (boiler of minimum 10l/min is required).
In the sprayer, the water demand doubles that of The water demand of the sprayer doubles that of the shower handle and, therefore, the capacity of the oiler is altered.
The lack of power in the boiler also produces temperature fluctuations.
Action: Verifying the capacity of the boiler and contacting a technician to check the state of the boiler. Increasing the provision temperature up to 65ºC (maximum allowed).
Simple verification that can be applied by the user about the capacity of the boiler:
Opening in shower handle position, opening another tap to its maximum water flow in hot water position (if possible, within the same room) and comparing if the temperatures are similar (in the thermostatic it is usually slightly inferior because it always mixes a small proportion of cold water).
Inserting a cold water flow limiter in the sprayer to reduce the capacity (consult availability Ref. JLC12).
Temperature cannot be regulated, the handle is blocked.
Cause: The thermostatic cartridge is blocked due to the lime adhered to its axis.
Action: Dismantling the cartridge from the tap, plunging it in vinegar for 24 hours and rinsing it with abundant water right after.
If it still can’t be recovered, thermostatic cartridge must be changed for a new one.
Cause: The temperature limiter ring as gone out of place, blocking the spin of the handle.
Action: Levering on the side tap of the handle, unscrewing the screw on the central part of the handle and extracting the handle.
Verifying that the limiter ring (white plastic piece) is appropriately assembled. If it is loose, it has to be placed again aligning the relief line in the inferior diameter of the limiter ring with the serigraphed line on the body, and when assembling the handle, it also has to be aligned with the 38ºC symbol.
In the rest of the tapware of the residence in cold water position only lukewarm water can be obtained.
Cause: The cold water anti-return valve (right side) does not work and it is allowing the water mix in the installation.
This can be due to being blocked because of accumulation of dirt or deterioration.
Action: The anti-return valve is located in the interior of the tap, right at the water inlets. The joint has to be taken out with filter to access the anti-return valve. Apply slight pressure at the central part of the valve and verify that it is not blocked because of accumulation of dirt.
In order to replace the anti-return valve (Ref. ARD15), the elastic ring and the anti-return valve have to be extracted with a screwdriver or a bended tile that allows pulling outwards.
After opening, closing and opening the tap back again in hot water position, it takes a lot of time to recover the temperature.

After a certain amount of time of usage or action, the thermostatic cartridge has started to lose wáter
Cause: The external toric joints of the cartridge have been deteriorated during its assembly/dismantling.
The interior joint of the cartridge has been deteriorated.
Action: Thermostatic cartridge must be replaced with a new one.
A noise can be heard in the thermostatic tap.
Cause: The installation presents a section reduction that increases the speed of the fluid and causes flow turbulences.
The pipe is loose and the counter pressure offered by the fluid makes the pipe vibrate.
Action: It is an installation defect. Consult a plumber.
Cause: In the interior of the tap there is a protuberance which generates turbulences when it collides with the fluid.
In this case it can be due to:
- Remnants of material from the construction were left inside the tap.
- Tap smelting flaw.
Action: Cleaning the joint 3/4”with filter located at the intakes.
Dismantling the thermostatic cartridge and rinsing with abundant water.
